TEACHING INTERESTS
Learners in the field of Landscape Architecture are often driven by wanting to be valued as individual learners, to make a difference to others, to make life better than before and to have a positive impact on the local and global environment. Therefore, I blend these motivations with individualised student choices of their own projects of interest rather than the interests of teaching staff. I always encourage students to explore and learn more about their own bicultural or multi-cultural identity through their project work, particularly in Aotearoa NZ with our Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations. My students are asked to make their own choices about the project site they wish to work on, the brief they wish to pursue and the theoretical concepts they wish to explore in their work.
