BIO

I am a researcher in artificial intelligence and signal processing, specialising in machine learning methods for speech technologies, environmental data analysis, and decision-support systems. My expertise spans deep learning, generative AI, and evolutionary computation. I work across disciplines and collaborate with researchers in engineering, computer science, and applied sciences in New Zealand and internationally. I am motivated by the opportunity to use AI to solve practical problems that can improve people’s lives, support safer and more resilient communities, and make advanced technologies more accessible beyond specialist research settings. My current and future research directions include diffusion models, intelligent sensing systems, and AI-driven optimisation methods for scientific and engineering applications. Highlights of my career include contributing as a key researcher to a New Zealand MBIE Endeavour Fund Smart Ideas project, receiving a DAAD AINet Fellowship, and serving as a reviewer for internationally recognised publication venues such as NeurIPS, AISTATS, ICASSP, Interspeech, and IEEE TASLP.
